The tomatoes are here, and there are lots of them. BP planted roughly 50 tomato plants, and this was our first tomato canning experiment.

We went with spaghetti sauce because spaghetti is a quick, zero-effort meal that we always try to have in the pantry (okay, on one shelf – we have a small galley kitchen, so there isn’t actually a pantry).

Not only were we able to use BP’s tomatoes, but we also used onion, green pepper and oregano from our very own garden. How cool is that?

Making our own spaghetti sauce (with BP’s mom’s steam pressure canner) was a long process, but it was easy and I would do it again. We made nine pint jars, just as the recipe stated.
